Big’un in his new home!

This is one amazing transformation. What a beautiful boy–congrats on your new home!

Big’un in the big horse pasture

Big’un is 2-3 months older than the next oldest of the nurse mare foals. He was getting a little too full of himself in that group, so it was time for him to graduate to one of the big horse groups. We moved him a few weeks ago and he has already made good friends.

Baby candids!

Here are a few extra photos from our photo shoot August 14th. Can you spot your favorites?

Big’un Needs a Name – and a home

Big’un is the biggest and oldest of the nurse mare orphan foals. Since he was born in January 2011, he just recently celebrated his 6 month birthday, so he’s heading for a gelding very soon and then will be ready to go to his adoptive home. His adoption fee, like the other foals, is $700, which covers his $350 gelding, and you don’t want to know how much in $110/bags of milk replacer and $25/bag pelleted feed, as well as vet visits, antibiotics, probiotics, and more.

Babies First Trim

The nurse mare foals had their first trim today since they were in good health and volunteers have had time to work with them on fly spraying and picking up feet. Farrier Rusty Copsy donated his time, and his daughter Graycie came along to help out. She took these pictures for us.

Deserving of special kudos, the flashy sorrel filly with the blaze was nearly perfectly behaved for her first trim ever! What a good girl! Overall these are 6 very well-handled babies who have great temperaments and are on a good start for their future. Now all they need are adopters–get your adoption application in if you’re interested!
